FINDEX Toowoomba

Brisbane Tuff is a prominent geological feature found in and around the city of Brisbane, Australia. It is a type of volcanic rock that formed millions of years ago during the late Triassic period. The rock formation is a result of volcanic activity when molten lava, ash, and gases erupted from volcanic vents and flowed across the landscape.
The different colours are due to the extent of oxidation of iron and manganese. This rock formation is notable for its durability and was extensively used in the construction of many iconic buildings and structures in Brisbane. It is often incorrectly described as porphyry.
