Atkinson Street

The project is based on a heritage Queen Anne weatherboard home in Oakleigh.

With much waiting and anticipation from its owners, it is now time to unlock the beauty of the house as well as provide a family home that functions.

The space must cater to a home that is always full of love & laughter with many people and food.

By ensuring the space can cater to two different modes of use; enables people to occupy it together when needed and also find moments of respite.

The kitchen is the centre point of the home, it is where everyone is together and therefore the most important room in the house.

Whilst solving the functional planning and rationalising the current architectural plans the interior palette feels like it wants to be lighter because of the weatherboard exterior.

In keeping with heritage, a modern twist can offer the home a refresh. With an airy feel from the tall ceilings and open plan, furniture and softening elements are required to balance and ground the spaces. This is a combination resolved by materials form largely through furniture.
